
Naming ceremony of two Damen Stan Patrols 2005 | |
On 11th April 2007 Damen Shipyards Gorinchem celebrated the naming ceremony of two Damen Stan Patrols 2005 for the Dutch Koninklijke Marechaussee.
The 'RV 161 - Kattenburg' was the first to be named and the choice of name is due to the following: Kattenburg, Wittenburg and Oosterburg belong to the eastern islands of The 'RV 162 - Wycker Meer' was the next vessel to be named. Some background information to the choice of her name is as follows: A small line of dunes is situated between the Wycker Meer and the The IJ and Wycker Meer were drained and the Noordzeekanaal (North Sea Channel) was excavated. Both vessels are used by the Koninklijke Marechaussee to serve the needs of the Dutch people and guard their safety. |
