About Damen Shipyards Den Helder

The focus of Damen Shipyards Den Helder is mainly repair and maintenance work although it does handle the occasional newly built vessel. The shipyard has two locations: one yard is located in Den Helder and the other in Oudeschild, a small port town on the island of Texel.

Facilities at two locations

At our location in Den Helder we have two docks and three slipways, one of which is covered. The yard at Oudeschild offers a dry dock with a working area in the industrial zone. Our repair jobs come from the offshore, fishing, dredging and towage industry, the Royal Netherlands Navy and Rijkswaterstaat. We have our own skilled teams and if necessary we have an extensive network of subcontractors.

Established in 1923

In 1923 two brothers started with a small business repairing wooden fishing vessels. The business grew and in 1953 they expanded into steel vessels and other types of repair work. In the coming years this small shipyard made quite a name for itself in the fishing industry and this made it possible to invest in new facilities, including a dry dock. In 1993 the company joins the Damen Shipyards Group and activities broaden into different markets. Now we are focused on repair and maintenance for the offshore, dredging, fishing and towage market.
